A special type of protein that is present in the blood. This protein is not in the blood of every human being.
In 1940, Karl Landsteiner and Winner, examining the blood of a monkey named Macaque rhesus, noticed these proteins in his blood.
Then in human blood also, it was found out that this protein is not present in the blood of every human being.
Due to the presence of these proteins on the Rhesus monkey, this protein is named Rh factor. Rh is derived from the first two letters of the Rhesus monkey's name.
The positive and negative blood groups are divided by the Rh factor itself.
The blood group in which the Rh factor means that protein is present is the positive blood group. The blood group in which this protein or Rh factor is absent is called negative blood group.
About 93% in India and 85% of people in the world have Rh factor in their blood.
A man with a (+) ve blood group is married to a woman with a -ve blood group. So their first child will be normal but the other children will die in pregnancy. This action is called erythro blastocis phyllis.
For the prevention of erythro blastosis femtis, anti-D vaccine is administered within 24 hours in the body of a woman after first delivery.
